There are a lot of things coming this weekend, Winter, the Game of Thrones Season Six Premiere, and Ommegang tap takeover at The Dugout!
The Game of Thrones seasons start in April every year, and every year, Brewery Ommegang partners with HBO to release a Game of Thrones inspired brew. This year is the Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale, a 6.9% hazy pale yellow brew featuring 5 hop varieties.
To celebrate the return of Game of Thrones, we're pouring three of the limited release Game of Thrones inspired Ommegang beers. In addition to the Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale, we're also pouring the Iron Throne Blonde Ale and the Take the Black Stout. These are small kegs so get some while you can!
SEVEN KINGDOMS HOPPY WHEAT ALE
Seven Kingdoms is a marriage of a traditional Belgian-style wheat and a hop-forward American ale – but unlike so many of the marriages on the show, the resulting hoppy wheat is pleasant, playful and inspired. Seven Kingdoms harmoniously weds citrusy and herbal American hops, with wheaty maltiness and moderate bitterness.
TAKE THE BLACK STOUT
Inspired by the brotherhood of the Night’s Watch, Take the Black Stout was made to be deep, dark and complex like those who have sworn the oath to defend Westeros against threats from the north. The label depicts the Weirwood tree where Jon Snow recited the oath before joining the Night’s Watch.
IRON THRONE BLONDE ALE
“No one enjoys their job more than I do -- producing and developing new brews to delight lovers of fine beer, add to that the opportunity to collaborate on a beer based on the cultural phenomenon of Game of Thrones and exploring ways to make the beer truly reflect aspects from the show. It made us approach development in a completely new way and I think the first edition Iron Throne reveals that. With a Lannister currently on the throne, it made sense to do a delicate, but piercing Golden Blonde Ale with Noble hops. Iron Throne is certainly fair in color and soft in appearance, yet it still possesses a complexity and bite to be on guard for.” -Phil Leinhart, Brewmaster at Brewery Ommegang
