One of our favorite breweries is bringing some of our future favorite beers for a tap takeover Friday June 17th. Newly released brews such as Leo v. Ursus Adversus DIPA and Luponic Distortion Rev. 006 are joined by specialty beers SLOambic and Pacific Gravity Barrel-Aged Weizenbock. Here's the full lineup details...
LEO V. URSUS ADVERSUS
Double India Pale Ale. ABV 8.2%. Prodigiously hopped yet nimbly brewed with pilsner malts, Adversus ultimately achieves the improbable: a big, bold IPA made for summertime sipping. A hard-charging blend of Pacific Northwest hops leads the way, loading the nose with notes of stone fruit, pineapple, mango and earthy pine resin. Meanwhile, the use of traditional pilsner malts adds levity and dryness to the palate, allowing for a refreshing texture through the finish. The result is a double IPA that is high on hop aromas, balanced in bitterness and perfect for the long, warm days of summer.
Hoppy Pils. ABV 5.3%. Pivo Hoppy Pils is a classically rendered pilsner with a West Coast dry-‐hopping twist, showcasing stylistic influences from Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic. Lighter beer styles like pilsner have been hijacked by industrial lager beer in the United States, and it’s time for craft brewers to take it back. Pivo Hoppy Pils offers impeccable balance with floral aromatics, spicy herbal nuances, and bergamot zest and lemongrass notes from dry hopping with German Saphir hops.
Barrel-Aged Weizenbock. ABV 9.2. Flavors of sweet vanilla and bourbon mingle with banana and clove in this barrel-aged German-style weizenbock. Brewed with wheat, pilsner, Munich, and highly-kilned melanoidin malts for a solid base, PGW has just a touch of hop balance, letting the banana and clove character of our traditional Bavarian wheat beer yeast strain take center stage. Eleven months spent resting in retired charred American oak bourbon barrels adds a layer of complexity reminiscent of Bananas Foster.
Wild Ale Fermented w/ Blackberries. ABV 6%. We are fortunate to have great relationships with our local growers who provide us with superb fruit for our beers. Like last year, we had the opportunity to purchase fresh marionberries and boysenberries, both close cousins to the blackberry, so we pounced. For this vintage, fresh berries were added to Sour Opal, a beer matured up to 24 months in oak barrels, and then fermented using our proprietary blend of microflora for an additional three months. Bursting with ripe berries and brambles, as well as hints of jam, the fruit gives way to a rustic funk and soft oak flavors, finishing with a mouth-watering acidity. We humbly present 2016 SLOambic. A Santé!
LUPONIC DISTORTION REVOLUTION NO. 006
American IPA. ABV 5.9%. Luponic Distortion Revolution No. 006 is the first-ever West Coast production beer to focus on hops grown in the Great Lakes State. “This beer showcases what happens when you take two familiar Northwest hop varieties and grow them 2,000 miles to the east,” says Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “The typical piney, dank attributes of these hops are transformed into something much brighter, with a racy citrus quality that adds yet another new layer to the lore of Luponic Distortion.”
